Baked Maple Beans is better to enjoy in the first part of the day. It is a highly pleasant but really substantial meal! If you like the taste of chipotle beans, crispy bacon and smoky flavors – this dish is for you.

Total Time to Make 8 medium Servings – 1 Hour

Ingredients

  • 4 center-cut bacon slices (chopped)
  • onion (finely chopped): 1 cup
  • white miso (soybean paste): 2 tablespoons
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • unsalted chicken stock: 1/2 cup
  • Viking Farms Maple Syrup: 1 1/2 tablespoons
  • chopped canned chipotle chiles in adobo sauce: 1 tablespoon
  • cider vinegar: 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • smoked paprika: 1/2 teaspoon
  • unsalted navy beans: 3 cans (15-ounce)
  • unsalted tomato sauce: 1 can (8-ounce)

Instructions

Turn on the oven and preheat it to 350°.

Take a skillet and cook bacon over medium heat for 5 minutes. Do not forget stirring occasionally. When bacon is crispy, remove it from the pan with a slotted spoon, reserving drippings.

Add onion to drippings in the pan and cook for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add miso and garlic, keep cooking 2 minutes more, stirring frequently. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a simmer. Place pan with Baked Maple Beans in the oven and bake for 45 minutes at 350. When time is out and sauce is thick, remove the pan from the oven.

The last touch is to sprinkle Baked Maple Beans with bacon.
