To begin with, gather the following ingredients:
- unsalted butter – 1 tablespoon
- fresh corn kernels – 2 cups
- Viking Farms Maple Syrup – 2 tablespoons
- rolled oats – 2 cups
- salt – 1 teaspoon
- water – 3 cups
- whole milk – 1 cup
- ground nutmeg – 1/8 teaspoon
- blueberries – 1 cup
- walnuts – 1 cup
When all ingredients are ready take a saucepan and melt butter over medium. Add corn and syrup to the butter and cook 3-4 minutes. Then add in oats and salt, stir well and cook for a couple of minutes. The next step is to pour water, milk, and add nutmeg. Cover our Maple Oatmeal and simmer 5-7 minutes. After the porridge is ready let it stand covered for 2 more minutes.
Divide oatmeal among 4 bowls. Top each serving evenly with berries and nuts. Bon appetite!
Of course, many of the ingredients in this recipe are optional. You can remove sweet corn, use pecan with bananas instead of berries and walnuts… But what can not be changed is the union of oatmeal and pure maple syrup.
