Sponge Cake With Maple Orange Cream Recipe

Sponge Cake With Maple Orange Cream Recipe

Total time to make a sponge cake — 50 min.

Preparation: 30 min. + Bake: 20 min.


  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup self-raising flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mixed spice
  • 300ml thickened cream
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated orange rind
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon icing sugar mixture


Use a mixer and beat eggs and caster sugar to a creamy consistency.

Sift flours, ginger and mixed spice together, blended eggs add to flour mixture.

Pour the mixture into prepared pans. Grease two round cake pans, preheat oven to 180C and bake it for 20 min.

Take it out, line a wire rack with backing paper. Then turn sponges out onto a wire rack to cool.

For making cream mixture beat orange rind, maple syrup and cream using an electric mixer. Sponge cake is ready!
